📖 Substitutions & Variations
- Salsa Topping: In fact, you can also spread some salsa on top of the guacamole and make another layer.
- Layered Bean Dip Base: You can also make a layered dip by spreading a smooth layer of the black bean dip in a medium bowl, then topping it with chopped green onions or any other chopped veggies of your choice, in an even layer.
- Guacamole Addition: If you have some guacamole, you can also spread guacamole on the refried beans mixture.
🔪 How To Make The Halloween Bean Dip?
Step One: In a microwave-safe bowl, add refried beans and cheese. Microwave for three minutes and stir well. If you want it spicy you can add a package of taco seasoning.
Step Two: Put the dip into a serving bowl. Place sour cream into a piping bag or a Ziploc bag and cut out a small portion of the bag from one corner to make a small hole.
Step Three: Pipe out the spider web on top of the dip. Cut the ends of a black olive and place on sour cream web, where you want the body of the spider to be. You can also choose to cut the olive in half lengthwise if you want to make a little spider.
Step Four: Thinly slice the rounds and use them as the legs of the spider. Serve with favorite tortilla chips or any snack!
👩🍳 Expert Tips
- Add Texture with Diced Tomatoes: To bring a bit of texture to the Halloween bean dip, you can also add diced tomato to the bean mixture.
- Flavor Boost with Green Onions: Chopped green onions can also be a fantastic addition to the dish. You can choose to add the chopped green onions on the top, or mix them in- it all depends on what you prefer.
- Cheese Variations: I've used Cheddar cheese for this recipe, but if you don't have it, you can use any other shredded cheese you prefer. Monterey Jack is a great option because its flavors complement the flavors of the black beans well.
- Seasoning Alternatives: If you don't have taco seasoning but still want to lend this taco dip some additional flavor, you can add some cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to it.
