How To Store Greek Yogurt

Storage: Homemade yogurt will last for up to 2 weeks in the fridge. Be sure to store it in an airtight container.

Refrigerate in the Back: Store Greek yogurt in the back of the fridge, where it’s coldest, to keep it fresh longer.

Freeze for Later Use: Freeze Greek yogurt in a freezer-safe container for up to two months, though the texture may change slightly.

Portion Out to Maximize Freshness: Divide yogurt into smaller containers to reduce exposure to air and bacteria, keeping it fresher for longer.

Making A New Batch of Greek Yogurt

When you are ready to make a new batch of yogurt, you can use the leftover yogurt from the previous batch as your starter culture.

This will save you from having to buy a new yogurt starter every time you want to make yogurt. The starter culture will have active cultures that will help to thicken the milk and turn it into yogurt.

What To Server With Greek yogurt With Strawberry Topping?

  • Granola: Crunchy granola adds a great texture contrast to the creamy yogurt and juicy strawberries. You can go for a classic honey or nutty granola for added flavor.
  • Nuts & Seeds: Add almonds, walnuts, or pistachios for some crunch, or sprinkle chia seeds, flax seeds, or hemp seeds for extra fiber and omega-3s.
  • Fresh Berries: While you’re already using strawberries, adding other berries like blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries can enhance the flavor and provide more variety.
  • Honey or Maple Syrup: A drizzle of honey or maple syrup over the yogurt and strawberry topping will add a touch of sweetness to balance the tanginess of the Greek yogurt.
  • Oats: Raw or lightly toasted oats can add a chewy texture and make the dish more filling. You can also make overnight oats and layer it with the yogurt and strawberry topping.
  • Whole Wheat Toast or Bagels: Serve a slice of whole wheat toast or a bagel on the side with a little nut butter (like almond or peanut butter) for a more hearty breakfast option.
  • Dark Chocolate or Almond Butter Drizzle: A little drizzle of melted dark chocolate or almond butter can make your yogurt and strawberries feel more like a decadent dessert.
