Steam or boil the broccoli for about 5 minutes. Next arrange the broccoli on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Gently press down on each broccoli piece with the bottom of a glass or mason jar to flatten it. This creates the smashed broccoli look.
In a bowl combine the oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and garlic.
Stir the mixture until everything is well combined.
Drizzle the mixture over the flattened broccoli florets.
Next sprinkle the freshly grated parmesan cheese generously on top.
Place the prepared baking sheet into the oven and bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and crispy.
